Tax guides for gig drivers

Plain explanations of the tax questions rideshare, delivery, taxi and trucking drivers actually ask, each with a worked example computed from the published rates and the calculator that answers it for your own figures. Written to be checked against the IRS documents they cite, and reviewed by a tax professional before they were published.

How these guides are written

Every figure on a guide comes from the same arithmetic RoadKept uses on a driver's report: the two 2026 mileage rates, the four estimated-tax periods, the business-use share of a car's costs. A rate is quoted with the IRS notice that set it, and a rule is stated as the IRS states it, with the publication linked at the foot of the page. Where the honest answer is "it depends on the rest of your return", the guide says so rather than picking a number.

The guides are general information about federal tax rules for self-employed drivers. They are not advice about your situation, and a preparer who can see your whole return is the person to confirm what applies to you.
